3PM: HOUSE OF HATS
Brighton four piece House of Hats are all individually well respected players, having worked with Pete Smith (Sting, Squeeze), Sting, Paolo Nutini and more. Their's is a beautiful harmony drenched indie folk that mines a similar sonic territory to The Civil Wars. It's a refreshingly contemporary style with a sympathetic ear for the classics- Fleetwood Mac and CSN&Y's vocal compositions bubble under the surface...
4PM: BILLY BONES
|
If The Pogues and Gogol Bordello had dirty rough sex with Arcade Fire in the toilet of a dry docked old sailing ship themed pub and the filthy sprogs that popped out 9 months on were hand reared by The Clash and Hunter S Thompson, in a shit caravan decorated inside by Tim Burton parked on some wasteground upstairs in the Hawley Arms, and…. those sprogs grew up into a band, the chances are that the band would be named Billy Bones”

5PM: KLAK TIK |
KLAKTIK
Creating genre-dodging alternative/orchestral/experimental folk, the startling Klak Tik is the brainchild of Soren Bonke, a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist hailing from the outskirts of Copenhagen. Working with anything up to an eight piece band, Klak Tik expand upon sparse and tender folk tunes to produce multi-layered pieces of music that explore similarly beautiful terrain to Sigur Ros and Radiohead. If pressed Klak Tik refer to themselves as Post-Folk, filed loosely between Grizzly Bear, Sufjan Stevens & Love.Praise for Klak Tik
“Like little droplets of sublimity, these 13 tracks are built around chiming, tender and sorrowful melodies. So who has released the orchestral folk album of the year? Some people think it’s Bonke’s”
9/10 NME
“offers the same vulnerable intimacy Sufjan Stevens perfected on Illinoise'”

6PM: DAN RAZA
"Incredible..... a wonderful songwriter."
Mary Gauthier
"Truly spellbinding, stunning...if there is any justice in this world, it won't be long before Dan Raza is headlining in a town near you, take my advice and go and see him live, highly recommended."
Maverick Magazine
Dan has already established a considerable reputation on the UK singer songwriter and folk roots scene. His distinctive approach has won him many fans and led to his supporting Joan Armatrading on a recent European tour, as well as opening for artists such as Mary Gauthier, Badly Drawn Boy, Cara Dillon, Chris Farlowe and Slaid Cleaves at concerts throughout the UK and USA.
Dan is of mixed Indian and British origin. Many of his songs draw on images from his past and there is an enigmatic and wistful quality at the heart of his writing. A chance meeting at a gig in South London led Dan to record his debut album with Charlie Hart, multi-instrumentalist and producer, who has worked previously with Ronnie Lane, Ian Dury, Eric Clapton and Mose Allison. It features a stellar array of guest appearances from Geraint Watkins (Van Morrison, Paul McCartney), BJ Cole (Dolly Parton, Martin Simpson) Steve Simpson (Eric Bibb, Ronnie Lane), Frank Mead (Albert King, Eric Clapton) and Mosi Conde (Mory Kante, Salif Keita).
Dan Raza has waited a long time to make his first full album after earning plaudits from some of the most notable songwriters on both sides of the Atlantic. There is no doubt he has a lot of promise. This is the first clue to what he might do with it.
